There are Situations you just can't crack

Watch out! you're drawing dead!

The learning and attraction curve are sometimes very similar. When we go from knowing too little to knowing a lot in a small period of time, we think we can outplay just about anyone. Bad news: It doesn’t work like that!
There are certain situations that you just can’t crack. There are some players that you just can’t bluff and there are some girls you will just not get…in that situation.
Poker
We were playing a $5-$10 in some Buenos Aires local cash game and the stacks were pretty deep, more than 400 times the blig blind. This was a very good situation for a big profitable bluff, hopefully with lots of chips in the middle so that when the big barrels come, week players will fold anything that is not the nuts…exactly the nuts!
So im in middle position and I got Enzo at the button. We had ran into each other after playing the Buenos Aires Poker tour and now we were playing some local cash games.
Very aggressive Enzo will obviously raise or re-raise anything from the button. Actually, I pick up my 3s3h and raise only 2.5 big blinds hoping to be able to call a cheap re-raise, which I was prepared to call hoping to hit my 3-set or else to prepare a nice bluffing situation.
Flop: J(c) A (c) J (h)
Turn 10(c)
The turn was a very good bluffing card for me as it completed many projects. I could be holding many full-houses, a flush or even a straight. After my check raise in the turn, Enzo flat calls me. This makes me think he must be holding a monster. Any other hand he would try to protect or trying to get more value right there by re-raising.
River : BLANK
Finally I gave up. Convinced he had some full house he would never let go, I just check the river and Enzo makes a half pot raise which was nearly 4k. So I do some hollywooding and convince him to show me his cards. Given our old friendship, years of poker battles and all kinds of emotional arguments Enzo show proudly his AJ, letting me know than he forgave me and that he didn’t want to take more money out of me.
Truth is it doesn't really matter in that hand, there was NO WAY he was folding. There was no way of cracking this situation.

There are some situations it is preferable not to get burnt. Great part of having good game is to read what you can do and what you can't. While the PUA community is constantly teaching and encouraging to approach girls like it’s a videogame, and get out of your comfort zone, go, bounce, learn, have no fear, after a while you learn to optimize certain situations.

So after the cash game we went to one of the most exclusive parties in Buenos Aires, they are held at Shampoo, a  local cabaret that closes as such, and opens as a night club. Thanks to my connections because of my old job, we ended up with a bottle in a table and grabbed a group of 12 models, Socrates and me. Piero made the trip to coincide with our Poker tournament since he had to produce a very high level fashion show. So he held a casting and part of it  was to bring girls partying and evaluate their performance at partying (nice job hu?)
So there we were 3 guys and 12 beautiful models at a table with 3 bottles. However, Socrates has a stubborn obsession with brunettes with big tits and thick lips, and no, he was not satisfied with the company we had.
Laura, who later became his ex girlfriend, was in the middle of the set, dancing only amongst  girls. Girls often do that. They dance in an indestructible titanium circle that you just can’t penetrate. When you see this, stay away. That is simply not CRACKEABLE. At that time, they are really the nuts. Women as a gender often go out to dance, just for fun. And you know what else is funny? Being the center of attention, feeling beautiful, raising their egos. That is not the time you want make your entrance.

What are our options?

1. The healthiest thing is to wait for  a situation when the circle is diluted, because when they are in the circle, they feel protected. Si even if you get the attention of one or two girls, you are that guy breaking that wonderful moment of fun, where they are the most important asset of the venue. So, just don’t approach.
2. Create the situation to break that cycle of titanium. You usually need one or more than one person to accompany you and can break the circle by offering something more attractive, like going to a super VIP.

So we indeed waited for the circle to broke up, some went to the bathroom, others remained , others greeted a friend and that's when you can approach.
Socrates asked me to wing him and obviously I did. I opened the set and dispersed it by asking one of the obstacles (an obstacle is difficult to choose when they are almost all models)
Me: "Girls, I need a woman's opinion, but fast as ‘cos I have to go, my friends are waiting for me ..."
Raised my hand and silencing the rest with authority I continued:
"How long do you wait to be with someone else after breaking up?" Actually what happened was obvious, 2 of them immediately respondeded. All issues related to relations are always very attractive for girls to leave their opinion.  Without listening much to their response, I made friends with the "obstacles", I asked from how they knew each other (technique used to understand the link between the people present, very useful when there is a man to see if there is anyone actually paired).
After that, Socrates comes in. Of course, I introduced him as the best poker player I knew and commented on how awful (in a friendly way) it was to go out with him, due to the large number of girls who look at him. (This is part of being a wingman, always enlarge your partner’s image, leave him set-up within the group)
What happened next and how Socrates conquered Laura is part of another post.
The moral of this story is to understand that we not always have an edge to outplay someone else and part of being profitable or effective is to save that possible 4k bluff in the river or in the case of the girls’ set, wait for a better time to avoid burns.
[1] Carcking: Deciphering , breaking
[2]Outplay:  lead to a situation in which we force the opponent to lose (hopefully fold bluff) because of our skills as a poker player
[3] Nuts: combination of cards that make the nuts or very close
[4] Winging: Being there for your friend. Play as a team to achieve a goal. Talk to the ugly, the friend, the obstacle.

Hey...and don´t forget..if you liked this post...share and post! Would love to hear your opinions and questions.
